Modern Slavery Policy
1. Purpose
This policy sets out Healthcare Resource Company Ltd.’s (HRC Care) commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our organisation and throughout our supply chains. We recognise our responsibility under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 to act ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships.
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which involve the deprivation of a person’s liberty for personal or commercial gain.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery in any form and are committed to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure it does not occur in any part of our operations or supply chains.
2. Our Commitment
HRC Care is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships, we include specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory, or trafficked labour, or anyone held in slavery or servitude, whether adults or children. We promote transparency in everything we do and expect the same high standards from all contractors, suppliers, and business partners.
3. Our Organisation
We provide residential and supported living services for individuals who require care, support, and assistance to live fulfilling lives. Our work is founded on principles of dignity, respect, equality, and safeguarding, values that directly oppose any form of exploitation or abuse.
This policy applies to anyone working for or on behalf of HRC Care, including employees at all levels, directors, officers, agency staff, volunteers, interns, contractors, and business partners.
4. Responsibilities
The Board of Directors has overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with this policy, monitoring its effectiveness, dealing with any queries, and auditing internal control systems to ensure they are effective.
Managers at all levels are responsible for ensuring staff understand and comply with this
policy and receive regular training on modern slavery awareness and reporting.
All staff are encouraged to comment on this policy and suggest improvements at any time.
5. Compliance and Conduct
- All individuals working for or with HRC Care must read, understand, and comply with this policy.
- Preventing, detecting, and reporting modern slavery is the responsibility of everyone working for or under our control.
- Staff must avoid any activity that could lead to or suggest a breach of this policy and report any concerns or suspicions to their line manager or the Registered Manager as soon as possible.
- We will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith, even if they turn out to be mistaken.
- No one will suffer any detrimental treatment for reporting a suspicion of modern slavery, in accordance with our Whistleblowing and Grievance Procedures.
6. Our Approach
To prevent and identify modern slavery risks, we:
- Maintain robust recruitment practices, including verifying the identity and right to work of all employees.
- Work only with reputable agencies and suppliers who share our ethical standards.
- Include modern slavery clauses and due diligence checks in supplier contracts where appropriate.
- Provide training and awareness to staff to recognise and report any signs of exploitation or trafficking.
- Have clear safeguarding and whistleblowing policies to ensure concerns can be raised confidentially and acted upon swiftly.
- Training on this policy forms part of our induction process and is refreshed periodically to ensure ongoing awareness.
7. Reporting Concerns
We encourage anyone, staff, residents, families, or partners to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or exploitation.

All reports will be investigated promptly, and appropriate action will be taken.
8. Communication and Awareness
Our commitment to tackling modern slavery is communicated to all suppliers, contractors, and business partners at the start of our relationship and reinforced where necessary.
Regular updates and reminders are issued to maintain awareness and ensure compliance across all areas of our work.
9. Breaches of This Policy
Any employee who breaches this policy may face disciplinary action, which could include dismissal for gross misconduct.
We may terminate our relationship with other individuals or organisations working on our behalf if they breach this policy.
10. Review
This policy does not form part of any employee’s contract of employment and will be reviewed annually or sooner if required by changes in legislation or best practice guidance.
